Featured Vendor - DJ's
DJ referrals are very important to me...they can make or break a reception. You can have no decor, bland food, wilting flowers but if the DJ stinks that is what guest will be talking about! Guests expect to have a good time. If your DJ can't read the crowd or mixes wierd song selections it can kill the mood.
Three of my favorites (in alphabetical order because they are all great):
Block Rockin Beats - Tom Rotter
Over The Top - George Oberkfell
Remember you don't have to choose every song for the whole evening. Pick the formal dance songs, list about 15 of song you must hear (and those you do not want to hear) and let your DJ do their job. You both may truly love late '80s hair bands, but five full hours of Def Leppard and someone might actually go deaf. A night of Nirvana or a rap-based reception is just as bad.
Music Must Including your favorite genre is perfectly fine, but do so in moderation. Your wedding is a celebration of your relationship -- one that likely involves music -- but it's also a gift to share with family and friends. Keep them in mind when developing your playlist. Throw your parents a thank you with Frank Sinatra's "Chicago," or Huey Lewis & The News here and there. Seeing them enjoy the night will be well worth a little Bobby Darin.
