Day in the life of a wedding coordinator:
5:30am – Wake hubby for work, kiss him, go back to bed!
7:00am – Mason wakes me to tell me it’s “Wake-up Time” really he’s the only alarm I need.
7:10am – Shower myself, then put Mason in while I’m getting my pretty on.
8:00am – My sister calls to make sure I’m picking up my niece for pre-school which I have done for the past 7 months but she checks anyway.
8:15am – Pick up MaKayla and listen to the almost 4 year olds discuss the upcoming day.
8:20am – Shuffle them both into school, take off jackets, head into class, get name tags, say hi to teachers, give kisses, promise to be back in a few hours.
8:45am – Run to the store for milk, juice, bread, or whatever else we ran out of at the castle.
9:15am – Get home, put away groceries, set alarm on the stove so I don’t get carried away and forget the kids.
9:30am – Sit down at the computer. Check Google Reader and start digging in to e-mails. I try to prioritize but they just keep coming and then I get a phone call, while sending a fax, and drawing out the reception layout, realize I’m not getting through them all this morning. Open www.todoist.com and start making to-do’s for the rest of the week to keep on track.
10:30am – Let the dogs out, let the dogs in – they’re boxers it’s cold – they don’t stay out long. Give dogs treats, plans to do that about 10 more times through out the day.
10:45am – Get in car to go get kids
10:55am – Talk with friends in the hall about the past weekend and previous week. (Soon I won’t know what happened the previous weekend because I’ll be working all of them)
11:00am – Teacher comes out and shows us what wonderful things our kids created with love.
11:02am – Go in the class and find my son with his backpack on his head and MaKayla telling me everything Mason did wrong in class.
11:10am – Head out to the car explaining why they are big kids and I can’t carry them both. Drop MaKayla off with her mom, drop Mason off at the sitter.
11:30am – Get home, throw let dogs out! Clean up the trash because I forgot to put it up before leaving and the dogs decided to have a picnic in the kitchen floor.
11:45am – Make lunch – generally Lean Cusine or Special K these days.
12:00pm – Check email – 15 new messages since I left a little more than an hour ago – Start sorting.
12:30pm – Finish lunch, start make calls to brides, vendors, anyone that will listen.
2:30pm – Check in with my hubby. We are often passing each other as we come and go so it’s nice to hear his voice and chat about absolutely nothing.
2:45pm – Start drawing the most recent reception layout and generating the rental check list.
3:45pm – Depending on what day of the week (of my current 20 full and partial clients there are 5 per day of the week that I check on – unless something pressing moves them to the top of the list).
5:00pm – Check Google Reader. Write my blog for the next day, set to post at 9:00am.
5:15pm – Do a recheck of the whole and day decide what needs to be added to tomorrows todoist.com and what will be bumped. Let the dogs out, remember to put up the trash this time.
5:20pm – Leave to get Mason from the sitters.
5:30pm – Pick up Mason, find out what they did for the day.
6:00pm – Get home and start dinner, throw a load in the laundry, play with Mason, check email.
7:00pm – Eat dinner – sometimes with out my hubby because he’ll be at work for another couple hours.
8:00pm – Clean up from dinner, Watch “Meteor and the Monster Truck Friends” with Mason, twice. Then get him ready for bed.
9:00pm – Convince Mason this is the last one….we need to get to bed!
9:15pm – Come down stairs, sit down on the couch and start sifting through the DVR recordings. (OMG – what did we do before DVR??) Watch at least one CSI and something wedding related – there are so many options now-a-days.
9:30pm – Hubby comes in, eats, takes over TV – Check Email.
10:00pm – Depending on the next days appointments, I might be working into the night getting prepared, doing final research or maybe just might I make it up to bed.
10:30pm – On those rare occasions that I make to bed at this time, I read. I have been thinking about weddings all day and I just can’t turn my brain off. I would lay awake or dream about weddings every night, so I read. I’m a fan of Dean Koontz, Iris Johanson, James Patterson really anything with a mystery that doesn’t involve planning an event helps me shut down and reboot for the next day.
2:00am – Wake up, let dogs out….our female has blatter control problems and sometimes she has to pee in the middle of the night and boy she is relentless when she needs out.
2:15am – Crawl back to bed, sleep, plan to do it all again the next day!!
HONESTLY – I wouldn’t have it any other way!! I don’t have “work hours”, I can’t leave my work at the office and I don’t have vacation or sick days. But I do get to take those two little cuties to school everyday, I do get go on field trips and be a room mother. I do get to set my own schedule and I get to be apart of a magical day for so many area couples it’s worth it all!!!
