WDS: Please describe your Professional Biographical Background (or a link to this information).
As a Wedding Officiant and Celebrant certified by the Celebrant USA Foundation, I am a ceremony expert trained and experienced in creating personalized, customized, memorable, and beautiful ceremonies from the heart. With degrees in psychology, theology, and religious education, I have spent most of my professional life working in both high school and college settings teaching, writing, and doing campus ministry. A common thread running through these years has been my love for working with people from many different backgrounds and perspectives, as well as my passion for developing meaningful rituals and ceremonies. Becoming a Celebrant has been a wonderful way to help others celebrate the milestones in their lives. It is the most meaningful work I have done to date!
WDS: Will you be performing the ceremony?
Yes, I perform every ceremony I plan. I have not missed a ceremony yet. But if I should become ill or have a family emergency, I have a list of seven back-up officiants I can call on to fill in for me.
WDS: Do you attend the rehearsal?
I will attend a rehearsal if we agree that there is a need for me to be there. I will run a rehearsal if we agree that I am the best person to do so. If you have hired a wedding planner, she or he will usually run the rehearsal.
WDS: What do you wear?
I usually wear a suit, but I am open to input from the couple. My goal is to blend in with your ceremony, not to stand out.
WDS: Are you flexible with the ceremony content?
Yes. I work with each couple to design a customized and personalized ceremony. Together we will create a ceremony honoring your beliefs, your hopes, your love, and your uniqueness as a couple. Traditional or creative, casual or formal, long or short, no two ceremonies are exactly alike. Each ceremony is individually crafted to reflect the couple’s distinct character.
WDS: How many meetings will there be with a couple?
I do not require counseling or marriage prep. Usually I meet just once with the couple to discuss their desires for their ceremony. Everything else can be done by phone or email.
